Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Can people with limited English proficiency attend the workshops?
Anyone can sign up for a workshop, but beginners who don't have a solid foundation in the English language will likely struggle to participate in the class and may not enjoy it.
2. How do I know if I'm an intermediate or advanced English learner and not a beginner?
It's not always easy to determine whether someone is intermediate or advanced. Someone may be able to read and understand English, but find it much harder to follow along when it comes to listening or speaking. For our workshops, it's important to have at least some basic skills. This is one of the reasons why we'll schedule a consultation of 15 to 20 minutes sometime before the workshop. This will give me the opportunity to assess your skill level to help us make sure the workshop is right for you.
3. What if I take a workshop and can't keep up or don't enjoy it?
To receive a 50% refund, simply email us at info@icornology.com indicating that you were "not satisfied." Within 24 hours, the funds will be transferred to you. Please note that you can only receive a refund once and still remain eligible for future workshops.
4. What if I want or need to leave the classroom during the workshop?
For safety reasons, we ask that once a student enters the building, they do not leave unless it is an emergency. Of course, they may leave the classroom into the hallway to make a phone call (be quiet, please... we have neighbors). But once they leave the building, for whatever reason, they will NOT be allowed back in.
5. Is there a procedure for entering the building?
Yes, after the Ice Cream Social, we will meet at the front door of the building. We will check each student's ID (or a photo of it) with which you registered on the Icornology website. If they match, you will be allowed in. This proof of identity is necessary for the safety of your fellow students, as well as the building's tenants.
6. What happens if I arrive after the group has already entered the building?
One of the purposes of the Ice Cream Social is to provide enough time for latecomers to arrive before we enter the building. Those who arrive later will NOT be allowed to join the class, even if someone lets them into the building.
7. Can we bring food to the classroom?
Of course! Workshops can last up to 2.5 hours... like a Marvel movie. That's a long time to go without eating. But please clean up after yourself.
8. What happens if I miss a workshop that I registered for?
You can cancel a reservation up to 72 hours before the workshop and receive a full refund. After that, you will still be eligible for a 50% refund the first time you miss a workshop.
9. How many students will attend the workshop?
A maximum of 10 students will be able to register for a workshop. If a workshop has fewer than 5 students registered, the class will likely be canceled. Anyone registered for a canceled class will receive cancellation notices via email and WhatsApp. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that everyone have a WhatsApp account.
10. Are children allowed to attend these workshops?
Only those 13 years of age and older may enroll in the workshops. Regardless of age, all students are expected to behave respectfully.
11. Are we allowed to record the workshop?
Due to concerns for the privacy of our students, especially minors, we do not allow our workshops to be recorded. Additionally, to minimize distractions during the workshop, we ask that you refrain from using your cell phones while in the classroom. The workshops are recorded by security cameras to help ensure the safety of all Icornology students.
